Jordan Rodgers: Drew Allar's 'stock is down' following Oregon loss

Jordan Rodgers was critical of Penn State quarterback Drew Allar following the Nittany Lions’ loss to Oregon this past weekend. He wasn’t very impressed with his play in Week 5 against the Ducks.
The ESPN analyst joined Wednesday’s edition of Get Up to share his opinion. Rodgers cited Allar’s inefficient play on third down and in the red zone as something that should concern any NFL team thinking about selecting him in the 2026 NFL Draft.
“The stock is down,” Rodgers proclaimed. “Look, when it looks good for Drew, it looks really good. The problem is, we haven’t seen it very much, and it’s really glaring — his inability to create when things break down. You see that on third downs. You see it in the red zone, where his QBR is 122 and 128 in college football.
“Especially in the Oregon game, they didn’t blitz him. They only blitzed on 16.7% of downs, but they had a 40% pressure rate. When you’re a quarterback and it’s a four-man rush, you have to be able to create with your legs, break the defense down. Time and time again, we saw him hold on to the ball too long. We saw his inability to make somebody miss or extend the play to the outside to help break the defense down and create explosive plays. He just wasn’t able to do that.
“The big-time throws to the perimeter every now and then, you’re like, ‘Man, that looks good.’ I think that’s what we hold on to. But I think it’s just inconsistency in making big plays happen when it’s not perfect.”

Rodgers is far from the only one being critical of Allar’s performance against Oregon. An anonymous Big Ten assistant coach championed a similar concern while speaking with Bruce Feldman of The Athletic via Bleacher Report.
“I wasn’t a believer in him at all. I didn’t get all the hype,” an anonymous Big Ten coach stated. “But when we played him, it was like, OK, he’s very gifted—he’s huge, and he has an absolute hose for an arm. I just don’t think he plays quarterback very well.
“He misses throws he shouldn’t, but then he hits some oh my God! throws. Offense looks hard with him, though.”
Allar will be looking to get right back on the horse, and prove his worth against UCLA this weekend. The matchup against Oregon didn’t do him any favors, but he’ll have plenty of opportunities in the coming weeks to change the narrative.
