Dylan Stewart injury update: South Carolina star's status for remainder of Oklahoma game revealed

South Carolina star Dylan Stewart has been ruled out for the rest of Week 8’s game vs. Oklahoma with a hip flexor injury. Stewart came out of the game twice in the first half before finally being held out of the game.
Stewart did not record any stats before being ruled out. The extent of his injury remains to be seen.
Coming into the game, Stewart had logged 13 solo tackles, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles on the season as far. He’s looked at as one of the leaders on this Gamecocks defense, so losing him for nearly the entire game is a massive blow for the unit.
The first time Stewart left the game, he was able to limp off the field during South Carolina’s opening drive before being taken into the medical tent. He was escorted to the locker room by athletic training staff shortly after emerging.
Stewart would eventually emerge from the locker room before the end of the first quarter with his helmet in-hand — a good sign for the Gamecocks star. Lang identified the apparent injury as a flexor issue. It was iced before he returned to the sideline and spent time on the stationary bike before jogging up and down the South Carolina sideline.
SEC Network sideline reporter Alyssa Lang reported shortly after he returned to the sideline that he was on the stationary bike and jogging. He returned to the game shortly after, but would re-injure his hip shortly after.

Stewart entered his sophomore season coming off a breakout true freshman season in Columbia. Though, halfway through his sophomore season is creeping up on his season totals from one year ago. As a freshman, he totaled 6.5 sacks — three more than he currently has. Other than that, his numbers are nearly identical from one year ago.
Desmond Umeozulu came in to fill Stewart’s position in his absence. However, the South Carolina defender also had to miss several snaps in the first half due to an injury of his own.
This occurred during a first half in which the Gamecocks struggled mightily on offense. The South Carolina offensive unit totaled less than 100 yards in the first half. Still, the Gamecocks trailed just 14-7 after two quarters.
Fans can watch the rest of the second half live on the SEC Network. However, the Gamecocks will have to be without Stewart the rest of the way.
