Jatius Geer injury update: South Carolina LB heads into medical tent vs. Virginia Tech

South Carolina edge rusher Jatius Geer was taken to the medical tent after suffering an injury in Sunday’s contest against Virginia Tech. Geer suffered the injury while making a sack early in the fourth quarter.
The Gamecocks defender remained on the ground for several moments after the play as trainers came out on the field to tend to him. He was later seen favoring his right arm as staff took him into the tent to be further evaluated.
At the time of his injury, Geer had two tackles and one sack on the afternoon. There was still no update on his status as of this writing with the Gamecocks leading 24-11 with seven minutes remaining.
Geer is in his third season with South Carolina after originally beginning his career at Syracuse in 2021. He has appeared in 19 games over the past two seasons to record 18 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.
It appears as if South Carolina will be able to hold on for the win, but injury to Geer certainly puts a damper on things. We’ll await more word on his status postgame with the Gamecocks scheduled to play again on Saturday against South Carolina State.

Dylan Stewart injury update: South Carolina star leaves game after hitting Kyron Drones
Jatius Geer unfortunately wasn’t the only South Carolina defender to leave with injury on Sunday. Pass rusher Dylan Stewart was injured late in the first half of a game against Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon
Stewart made contact with Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones with his right shoulder. He immediately grabbed it and went down to the turf. Play paused momentarily while Stewart was tended to on the field. Thankfully, Stewart returned to the field at the beginning of the second half.
A 6-foot-5, 245-pound edge defender, Dylan Stewart made a name for himself immediately as a true freshman in 2024. He was named an honorable mention All-American by College Football Nation, while he earned 2024 Freshman All-American honors from the Football Writers Association of America.
Stewart was an absolute terror off the edge. He started 11 of 13 games and racked up 23 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks. He also forced three fumbles and recovered two more, while he posted one pass breakup and one pass defended.
