Shane Beamer had an interesting way of addressing rumors regarding his QB LaNorris Sellers and his future. South Carolina took a tough loss Saturday, 31-30 to Texas A&M, after holding a 30-3 halftime lead.

Much is made about Sellers’ raw talent and potential when it comes to the NFL. He could enter the NFL Draft for 2026 and turn pro or return to college.

In the day and age of the transfer portal and NIL, you never want to rule anyone from changing schools at this point. But Beamer didn’t want to hear anything regarding Sellers in 2026, at least as of right now.

“I think there’s a bunch of absolute horse garbage that’s on social media right now. I love y’all, but it’s gonna be the end of all of us,” Beamer said postgame. “But to answer your question, I’ve had some really good conversations with a lot of guys on our team in regards to the future. And again, right now, our focus this week was on A&M, and this week is getting better for Coastal Carolina, who I know is really hot. I don’t know if they played yet today, but they’re on a roll right now. I know they’re scoring a lot of points.

“But, yes, I’d be not doing my job as the head coach if I wasn’t having conversations with players throughout the season in regards to their futures. We got guys that have NFL decisions to make, and a lot of that. I want to speak for everyone, there’ll be a time for all that.”

Sellers was 15-of-30 passing for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, along with 28 rushing yards in the game. This season, Sellers has 1,782 yards, nine touchdowns, six interceptions, a 60.2% completion percentage, 186 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, down from his 2024 numbers.

“I’ll say this, though. There’s a lot of guys on this team that love being a Gamecock, and there’s a lot of guys on this team, in this program, that hurt like hell right now about what we’re going through,” Beamer said. “But there’s a lot of guys that have great grit and resolve to get this right and understand how close we are to being where we want to be.”

South Carolina dropped to 3-7 on the season with the loss, a stark contrast from last year’s 9-3 mark that just missed out on the College Football Playoff. How Sellers weighs into the 2026 campaign remains to be seen. First things first, they have two games remaining.
