South Carolina entered fall camp relatively healthy last week. There are a few players who will miss extended time due to injury, however.

Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer revealed that four players that may not find themselves on the field much during fall camp. He didn’t go into detail, but Beamer revealed the names of those who are injured at the moment.

“(OL) Ryan Brubaker, (DT) Caleb Williams, (EDGE) Jaylen Brown and (DB) Zahbari Sandy will not be active tomorrow. As far as their timetable to return right now — I don’t have one for you,” Beamer said. “It’s not going to be any time in the near future, I would say.”

Brubaker, Williams and Brown all missed time dating back to the spring. However, Sandy’s injury is new, according to GamecockCentral’s Wes Mitchell. Additionally, OG Nick Sharpe and TE Michael Smith were not mentioned in the report, who both missed time during the spring as well — a sign that the Gamecocks are healthy heading into fall camp.

While Beamer wasn’t willing to give a timeline on when the four Gamecocks will be back, he’s excited to get fall camp started with the players who are healthy. Expectations are heightened after a strong finish to the 2024 season, so getting off to a strong start in fall camp is important to the South Carolina head coach.

“We’ll see how things evolve as we get into the season and go into the season. But those guys won’t be out there tomorrow and and won’t be — it’s not a short term thing with those guys. But they’ll be fine, and going to be great players for us here at Carolina. It just won’t be out there on the field, working at it tomorrow.

“But other than that, we’re in a really good position. It’s been a great summer and I can’t wait to get started.”

South Carolina will kick off the 2025 season against Virginia Tech as a part of the Aflac Kickoff event inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Kickoff is slated for Aug. 31 and will air live on ESPN beginning at 3 p.m. ET. Tennessee vs. Syracuse will be played the night before in the same venue.

The Gamecocks will also take on the likes of LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Clemson down the stretch. This gives South Carolina no shortage of opportunities to prove themselves against top talent not only in the SEC, and around the country.
