South Carolina pitcher Ashton Crowther plans to enter NCAA transfer portal

South Carolina pitcher Ashton Crowther plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. He announced his plan on social media Monday.

“After careful consideration I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Crowther wrote. “Thank you gamecock nation for this past year. Excited for what is yet to come.”

Crowther pitched his way to a 2-2 record this past season, with an ERA of 4.38. He competed in 19 games with two starts.

Crowther was credited with one save and had 37 innings pitched in 2025. He had 28 strikeouts on the season.

Crowther played the 2024 season at Miami before transferring and went 1-4 over the course of 15 games. He had a 7.36 ERA to go along with 28 strikeouts in 36.2 innings pitched.

Crowther becomes the 18th player to exit South Carolina this offseason via the transfer portal. He is also the 10th Gamecock pitcher from last season to enter.

Crowther attended J.W. Mitchell High School in Trinity, Fla., and was a four-time all-conference first-team selection. He had 176 strikeouts in 133.2 innings pitched in his high school career.

As a junior at J.W. Mitchell, had a 1.43 ERA and 70 strikeouts and was the No. 7 left-handed pitcher in the state of Florida in the class of 2022 by Perfect Game. Crowther was a 2022 Perfect Game All-Florida Region First Team Preseason All-American. He played for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League in the summer of 2024
