Spencer Rattler praises South Carolina fans for rowdy environment

South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler would be remiss if he didn’t give the fans credit for their part in Saturday’s 30-24 victory against Texas A&M. The Gamecocks reported a sellout crowd in the win, and its presence was certainly felt as they notched their fourth straight victory.
The Aggies committed eight false starts as a result of the noise, while also turning the ball over twice. Speaking with reporters in a postgame press conference, Rattler let fans know that their support didn’t go unnoticed.
“That was for sure the loudest game I’ve been a part of,” he said. “When Xavier (Legette) took that 100-yard kick return back, it was electric. It was crazy, My chest was bumping from the sound of the crowd. It was big time. A lot of false starts. They had some turnovers from the crowd noise, so whenever you can have that crowd noise, it helps.”

South Carolina jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter and never trailed on its way to the win. Rattler finished 12-of-25 passing for 168 yards, while running back Marshawn Lloyd added 92 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

The victory caused the Gamecocks to move into No. 25 in this week’s AP poll, the first time they have been ranked since 2018. It was also their first against the Aggies in program history. South Carolina improved to 2-2 in conference play this season, rising up to third place in the SEC East standings.
Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer is now 12-8 since taking over the program in 2021, and that impressive start has led to growing support from the fans. Saturday marked the fourth sellout in five home games for South Carolina this year, with the only game that didn’t sell out being the South Carolina State game that was affected by Hurricane Ian.
As the wins continue to pile up, that support should only grow stronger. Spencer Rattler knows he can again count on the fans to be there when South Carolina takes on Missouri next Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
