Emotions are high for everyone in Williams-Brice Stadium, with South Carolina trying to pull off an upset against Tennessee. Head coach Shane Beamer has done a good job thus far, having an 11-point lead with the third quarter winding down. However, things got out of hand from the endzone holding the student section.

South Carolina fans are not exactly too fond of the referees right now, with some flags coming in on the home team. They decided to take out their frustration by throwing some bottles onto the field, reaching as far as the 10-yard line.

Because of the debris hitting the field, the SEC officiating crew had to briefly delay the game. Workers from the stadium went to pick up the things thrown onto the field.

This is nothing new for Tennessee over the past couple of years but not with South Carolina. Their own fans had an incident at Neyland Stadium against Ole Miss over some officiating decisions as well. Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin will probably have some comments on what happened at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Shame Beamer getting the ball rolling at South Carolina

At the end of his postgame interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, head coach Shane Beamer took some time to shout out a couple of people.

First, he complimented the play of his quarterback. Spencer Rattler looked like the five-star prospect he was coming out of high school, balling all night. He also reflected on the program’s historic win over Alabama back in 2010.

But then, he said things are “just getting started” for South Carolina. These types of wins can jump-start programs to the next level, as Beamer thinks Saturday night was exactly that.

“Spencer Rattler — unbelievable,” Beamer said. “So happy for him. I told Kirk and Chris yesterday, the last time I was in this stadium with them was when we beat Alabama when they were No. 1 in the country in 2010. So, y’all got to keep coming back. But this is what this place can be and we’re just getting started here at Carolina.”
