Ryan Hughes injury: TCU OL leaves on crutches to locker room vs. Colorado

TCU starting left tackle Ryan Hughes was taken to the locker room after suffering an apparent right leg injury against Colorado. Hughes suffered the injury on the second play of the game and limped off the field to be tended to by trainers on the sideline.
After being looked at for a few moments, Hughes was later seen making his way down the tunnel using crutches. FOX sideline reporter Alexa Landestoy offered an update on his status.
“Not good news for TCU,” she said on the broadcast. “Left tackle Ryan Hughes, who we saw leave the game during the last drive, spent some time with the trainer. Just went down the tunnel on crutches, not putting any weight on that right leg.”
Hughes is in his second season with the Horned Frogs after taking a redshirt last year. He still appeared in four games during the 2024 season and saw 131 total snaps.
Ryan Hughes committed to TCU as a three-star recruit out of The Woodlands (TX) High School. He ranked as the No. 1,040 overall player and No. 68 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.
Ultimately, TCU would still hang on to win 35-21 against Colorado on Saturday. The Horned Frogs improved to 4-1 (1-1 Big 12) and next face Kansas State in Week 7.

Griffin posted the news and following images on social media this afternoon after what happened on an interstate in Fort Worth. Their vehicle hit the divider and ended up blowing out both of its front tires but afterward, Griffin and his family, with his wife and children in the car, were alright.
“Just got in the worst car accident of our lives with my wife and kids in Fort Worth, Texas,” Griffin III posted online in the aftermath. “Scary crash, ricocheted off the highway divider multiple times, blown both front tires. Thankful to God that my wife and kids are safe.”
Griffin III is currently back in the broadcast booth now working for FOX Sports since his hiring at the end of August. He was in Fort Worth in preparation for kickoff tomorrow night for Colorado vs. TCU in the Big 12, alongside Connor Onion. That assignment being so close to home in Texas allowed his family to travel with him for the weekend, with them all riding along in the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
No further updates are known from the accident this morning. However, the best news is that there were minimal to no injuries.
