Tennessee has been working for months to get Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star linebacker Nasir Wyatt on campus, and the Vols will finally do so this weekend.

Wyatt confirmed to On3’s Chad Simmons that he will make the cross-country trip from southern California to Knoxville for his first visit to Tennessee. The trip is a long time coming, as multiple members of Tennessee’s coaching staff have been working to get him on campis.

“I’ve been in touch with Coach Ayers, Coach Ekeler and Coach Heupel,” he told Simmons last week. “Coach Banks came to see me at school. They are constantly calling me. We talk on the daily. They’ve been vocal from the jump about how interested they are in me. Tennessee feels me and Jordan Ross could really make a good combination off the edge.

… They’ve been telling me from the jump, ‘Once we get you down here for this unofficial, we are probably going to lock in an official.’ They feel confident in their ability to pull me in and have me playing for them as a Vol. So, if they feel like that, I want to go check it out and see if I fit there.”

Wyatt has indeed locked in an official visit with Tennessee for the weekend of June 14, as the Vols battle Oregon, Miami, Texas and others.

“When I go on these trips, they’re business trips,” said Wyatt, the No. 76 overall prospect and No. 9 linebacker in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “They have to show me how they are going to compete with other schools that are at the top of the board. I’m not going to rule out anything because I’m still taking these trips, going on these unofficials and then setting up some officials. After the OVs, I probably will be like, ‘I want to commit.’”

Nasir Wyatt discusses his interest in Miami, Oregon and Texas

Miami: “Miami and Coach Cristobal have come to see me a lot. They’ve been really trying to get me to feel what Miami is like. Cristobal said he did a lot of things at Oregon as far as building the facility up and getting Kayvon Thibodeaux to the NFL. He’s saying, ‘Why go out there to see Oregon if you could check out Miami too?’”

Oregon: “As of right now, Oregon is still that team that’s at the top for me when comparing schools. They feel as if they’ve got me already. They want me there.”

Texas: “I’ve heard good things about the atmosphere and I like how much defensive talent they have up there. They have guys that play the same way I do like Colin Simmons and Anthony Hill. They have a bunch of guys that fly around. I could think I could fly around too. Coach Kwiatkowski, he’s been vocal since my sophomore year about how interested they are in me and how they feel I can fit in the scheme of their defense and fly around. I’m hearing that from him and Coach Sarkisian.”
