Tennessee wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. will be available against Georgia on Saturday, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He’d been listed as questionable this week due to an injury he suffered against Mississippi State last weekend.

Before leaving the game on Saturday, Thornton tallied three catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. Thornton is Tennessee’s leading receiver this season, boasting 505 yards and four touchdowns on just 20 receptions.

Tennessee will need Dont’e Thornton as it squares off against Georgia on Saturday. The Bulldogs will be hungry after suffering a 28-10 loss to Ole Miss last weekend. In the loss, Georgia’s secondary struggled, allowing 263 passing yards and a touchdown.

It was a subpar showing for the Bulldogs, who only give up an average of 195.6 passing yards per game, ranking No. 36 in the country. Tennessee will look to pour salt into Georgia’s wounds on Saturday as the two teams square off with a spot in the College Football Playoff potentially on the line.

Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava’s injury update

Thornton isn’t the only Tennessee Volunteer who will fight through injury to play against the Bulldogs. On Friday, Thamel also announced that Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava will play on Saturday.

Iamaleava left the Volunteers’ win over Mississippi State after suffering a massive hit in the first half. He underwent concussion protocol but was seen boarding Tennessee’s team bus to Athens, Georgia.

At the time of Iamaleava’s departure last week, he completed 8-of-13 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns. After the win, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel expressed optimism the sophomore quarterback would be able to play against Georgia.

He echoed his optimism on Monday during an SEC teleconference.

“Nico has been good here in the early part of the week,” Heupel said. “And at this point in the week, I’ll refer everybody to the availability report that comes out later tonight. Everybody can wait with anticipation for that.”

Fans won’t have to wait any longer. Tennessee’s two standouts will be available on Saturday as the Volunteers face off against Georgia at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will air live on ABC.
