WATCH: Redmond Walsh sends Tennessee to Super Regionals with full-count strikeout

After a wild ninth inning, Tennessee is headed to the Super Regionals after a game-winning strikeout by Redmond Walsh with a full count. The Volunteers entered the ninth inning trailing Georgia Tech 4-3, but scored six runs in the final inning to secure an undefeated performance in the Knoxville Region.

Tennessee advances to Super Regionals

After Tennessee blew the game open with a six-run final inning, Georgia Tech threatened to come right back at them with a great performance of their own. Walsh walked the first Yellow Jackets batter of the inning and gave up a single to the second, putting two players on base. He picked up a strikeout to get the first out of the inning, but a single to the fourth batter he faced loaded the bases.

With one out and bases loaded, a single into center field brought two runs home and put the tying run at the plate. Walsh picked up another strikeout for the second out of the inning, and Drew Compton came up to the plate as the potential tying run. Compton put together an excellent at-bat, drawing a walk after working a full count and loading the bases again.

Colin Hall came up to the plate next and looked ready to follow with another walk as he built a full count as well on the same number of pitches — only for Walsh to send a pitch high up in the strike zone for a called strike three and the win.

Now, the Volunteers will prepare for Notre Dame who advanced earlier in the day from their region. With a win in their Super Regional series, Tennessee will be in the College World Series.

Jordan Beck taunts the outfield as Tennessee completes comeback

Tennessee will be advancing to the Super Regionals after pulling off a comeback win against Georgia Tech on Sunday night. The Volunteers have been the best team in college baseball all season and seeing them advance in the NCAA Tournament is no surprise.

What could be seen as a surprise, though, is Jordan Beck while he was running the bases. Hitting the go-ahead double late in the game, Beck was seen flipping off the Georgia Tech outfield. He seemed to have some words as well, showing how excited he was to be in a winning position.
