Tennessee RHP Austin Breedlove enters NCAA transfer portal
Tennessee right-handed pitcher Austin Breedlove has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos. He did so after spending just one year with the Volunteers.
Breedlove initially attended Cleveland State in 2024 before transferring to Tennessee. Once with the Vols he had a significant impact.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound hurler made 25 appearances for Tennessee, starting two contests. He put together a 3.42 ERA and a 3-0 record in that time.
Austin Breedlove worked through 23.2 innings of action, striking out an impressive 31 batters while walking only eight. He allowed opponents to hit just .233 off him.
His move to the transfer portal will leave Tennessee without an arm. And he’s not the only one to depart via the portal so far this offseason.

Tennessee loses another pitcher to the portal
In addition to Austin Breedlove, Tennessee pitcher Andrew Behnke entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He appeared in 14 games out of the bullpen this past season.
Behnke had a 2-0 record out of the ‘pen while finishing the year with a 5.11 ERA across 12.1 innings of work. That came after an impressive sophomore season in 2024 when he went 3-1 with a 3.54 ERA across 28 innings in 23 relief appearances.
Behnke entered the 2025 season on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s Stopper of the Year preseason watch list. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Andrew Behnke is the latest transfer departure for Tennessee, which has seen double-digit players hit the open market. The program is also preparing to lose infielder Alex Perry, who officially entered the portal on Wednesday after sitting out the 2025 season due to a “personal matter,” On3 has learned.
On3’s Nick Schultz also contributed to this report.
