Speedy 2022 wide receiver Chris Reed commits to Utah

Utah bolstered its 2022 recruiting class Tuesday with the commitment of Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva wide receiver Chris Reed.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Reed receiver an offer from the Utes on Tuesday and committed a little more than 24 hours later.
In his announcement tweet, Reed wrote:
“First and foremost I want to thank God and I would also love to thank all of my coaches for helping me reach this point in life. I would also love thank my parents for helping me with this decision. I have fallen in love with the coaching staff at this college this is a place I see myself at for the next 4 years. With that being I said I would love to announce my commitment to the University of Utah. #GoUtes!”
Reed’s Wekiva squad has struggled to a 1-4 start, but he’s amassed 476 receiving yards and eight touchdowns through five games. He runs a reported 4.5-second 40-yard dash and adds some much-needed speed to the Utes’ skill positions.

Chris Reed joins a small Utah 2022 class
Reed is Utah’s seventh commitment in the 2022 class, joining running back Jaylon Glover, safety Jeffrey Ugo, receiver Adarrius Harshaw, quarterbacks Nate Johnson and Brandon Rose, and offensive tackle Tavo Motuapuaka. Johnson, an Elite 11 finalist and the No. 197 player in the 2022 On300, chose the Utes over more than a dozen other offers. He is Utah’s only On300 commitment for this year’s class.
Three-star Frisco (Tex.) Memorial wideout Zion Steptoe had been committed to the Utes since June, but backed off his commitment earlier this week. Utah’s recruiting class ranks No. 85 nationally and No. 11 in the Pac-12. The Utes have just 10 seniors on the 2021 roster, and will likely bring in a smaller-than-normal class after adding 17 high school prospects and eight Division I transfers in their 2021 recruiting class.
