It has not been a good week for Vanderbilt on the recruiting trail. And it got even worse Wednesday.

Oxford (Ala.) three-star athlete Miguel Mitchell decommitted from the Commodores on Wednesday night.

“I have changed my plans and I would like to say that I am decommitting from Vanderbilt University and reopening recruitment,” Mitchell tweeted. “Decommitting is the hardest thing to do but it is a business decision that I had to make for myself and my family.

He is the third decommitment this week after Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County three-star cornerback Caleb Coley and Pinson (Ala.) Pinson Valley three-star athlete B.J. Diakite.

During this time, they have picked up a commitment from Warner Robins (Ga.) Warner Robins wide receiver Daveon Walker.

“This decision comes after a lot of time spent in prayer and discussions with my family,” Mitchell tweeted. “I am grateful foe Coach (Clark) Lea and his staff for ofering me a scholarship and the time they have put unto building relationships with me and my family. The entire staff at Vanderbilt University has been nothing short of amazing for us.”

According to the On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — Coley is the No. 616 overall recruit in the country, Diakite is the No. 791 prospect and Mitchell is the No. 822 player.
