Diego Pavia's brothers, Roel and Javier, arrested on charges of public intoxication, resisting arrest

Vanderbilt had a lot to celebrate last night after opening their season with a 42-point win over Charleston Southern. However, some notable family members around the program were then later arrested following the victory.

Per legal documents, Roel Pavia and Javier Pavia, the brothers of QB Diego Pavia, were arrested last night on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest, while Roel was also taken in on a felony charge of assault on law enforcement. Those charges were filed today, with both brothers having been released earlier this morning, as they’re set to appear in court on Tuesday, according to those documents.

Diego (24) is just younger than both of his brothers in Roel (26) and Javier (25). They also have a younger sister in Abrielle Pavia.

As their brother became more known with the Commodores, the Pavia brothers also did too. That’s mostly from their celebrations in his play and, with that, the success the program has had the past year or so since his arrival at Vandy. However, whatever took place last night appears to have gone much too far.

Pavia again played well in the 45-3 opening win for Vanderbilt over Charleston Southern, an opponent out of the FCS, on Saturday. He started his final season of college eligibility by going 20-25 (80%) for 275 yards and three touchdown passes, while also rushing eight times for 44 yards. That was part of 481 yards gained by Vandy, outearning the Buccaneers by nearly 350 yards on the night, while the Commodores’ defense did their work by also forcing a pair of turnovers with an interception and a fumble recovery.

After that win last night, Vanderbilt will be getting right into two more difficult games on their schedule in weeks two and three. That’s with a pair of road games the next two weekends at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and at South Carolina to open conference play in Columbia, with the Hokies and Gamecocks ironically opening their own respective seasons against one another this afternoon in Atlanta.

Pavia will continue to focus on this season, with some important games upcoming for Vanderbilt. Still, off the field, it remains to be seen what comes from this for his brothers after their court date coming this week on Tuesday.
