Georgia State at Vanderbilt weather delay: When Week 4 game will resume

Vanderbilt has a game against Georgia State on Saturday night, but it has been postponed by lightning in the area, the program announced. It will be delayed until the lightning clears the area.
An advisory was provided the fans. The goal was to ensure everyone’s safety during the delay.
“Lightning has been detected within 8 miles,” the alert read. “Per SEC protocols, the game is suspended until the threat has passed. Please proceed to a shelter location, return to your vehicle, or head to your campus residence if applicable. Reentry will be permitted once the event resumes.”
Vanderbilt off to a hot start in 2025
The Vanderbilt program is off to a hot start to the 2025 season, getting out of the gates 3-0. That includes a recent SEC win over South Carolina in a game that wasn’t particularly close. For now, that puts the ‘Dores atop the SEC standings.
Quarterback Diego Pavia has been a huge part of that success. He’s already thrown for 645 yards and seven touchdowns, while throwing just two interceptions. And he’s run for 129 yards, as well.
The quarterback’s status has been the subject of much debate in the last week, though Pavia himself offered some clarification. So what’s all the hubbub about?

Clark Lea discusses Diego Pavia
Last year, Pavia and his attorneys had a motion for a preliminary injunction granted by the U.S. District Court of Middle Tennessee. At the time, they argued that JUCO eligibility rules violate antitrust laws. That allowed him to play in 2025. Now, it appears Pavia’s attorneys are looking to continue that battle. It was reported by On3’s Pete Nakos that his attorneys set the table for a seventh season in 2026. Pavia would later take to Twitter. There, he confirmed that this would be his last season in college.
Head coach Clark Lea is aware of all of that, but none of it is his focus right now. Instead, as he explained on the Weekly SEC Teleconference, that he wants to focus on this week’s game and, as far as Diego Pavia is concerned, getting him his shot at the NFL next season.
“I don’t pay a lot of attention to all of that at this point,” Clark Lea said. “We’re focused pretty intensely on the climb we face each week. This week is Georgia State. Obviously, I love Diego and support him all the way. What he and I talk about is his launching into an NFL career. That’s what I want to see him do. He deserves that opportunity.”
