Vanderbilt is trending to land Wagoner (Okla.) four-star athlete Witt Edwards, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The Commodores lead with a 97.5% chance to land Edwards, per the RPM.

Edwards is the nation’s No. 359 overall prospect and No. 12 athlete in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Oklahoma.

Edwards does not currently have a publicly listed On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Vandy looking to build momentum before signing day

Vanderbilt’s class of 19 commits currently ranks No. 46 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 16 in the SEC. Cibolo (Texas) Steele four-star safety Dontae Carter headlines the class as the nation’s No. 229 overall prospect.

“I chose Vanderbilt because my family and I felt that it was a good school to go to,” Carter told On3. “I always dreamed of playing in the SEC, so going there on a visit and then hanging around Coach (Clark) Lea, I believe they are actually on the come-up to take over the SEC, and that’s something I want to be a part of. They recruited me hard and they were the first school to really believe in me.”

“I always wanted to play in the SEC on a team full of great coaches and players, and they’re building a team,” the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder from Cibolo (Texas) Steele High School continued. “Outside of the football side, it’s great academics as well. The decision didn’t come easy; it was stressful, but I went opportunity over love.”

It was a busy summer for Clark Lea’s staff at Vanderbilt. The Commodores received 14 of their 19 commitments in the months of June and July. Vanderbilt’s class already ranks slightly above its position in the 2023 rankings, in which the Commodores finished with the nation’s No. 54 class.
