WATCH: Spencer Jones blasts a three-run home run to put Vandy up 4-0 on New Mexico State

The Vanderbilt Commodores bats have gotten hot early in their NCAA Tournament matchup on Saturday against the New Mexico State Aggies. Spencer Jones just blasted a three-run home run to put Vandy up 4-0 on the Aggies in the top of the third inning.
Check it out below as he puts this one in the bleachers.
Saturday’s matchup is Game 2 of the NCAA Corvallis Regional in Corvallis, Oregon for the Commodores. They lost their Game 1 matchup yesterday to the San Diego Toreros by a score of 3-2. Vandy trailed that matchup 3-0 but drilled two solo shots, one in the 7th inning (Dominic Keegan) and one in the 8th inning (Calvin Hewett). But it wasn’t quite enough.
Saturday’s game is an elimination game for both teams, whoever loses will be bounced from the 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament.
Vandy is used to being one of the top programs in college baseball. However, this season can be considered a pretty big disappointment for a program that’s used to being among one of the top teams in the sport.

There have been plenty of positives this season for the Vandy program, such as Enrique Bradfield cementing himself as one of the greatest base stealers in Vandy baseball history. He’s currently a mind-boggling 43 for 43 on stolen base attempts this season and 90 for 96 in his decorated career.
He entered the NCAA Tournament chasing the program record for stolen bases in a single season (51) and for stolen bases in a career (96). It’s only a matter of time before those records fall–either this season or next season. Bradfield didn’t have any stolen bases against the San Diego Toreros in their first game of the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
Entering the 2022 NCAA Tournament, Vandy had lost two of their last three matchups in the SEC Tournament, Kentucky (10-2) and Tennessee (10-1).
