Theo Von-Diego Pavia bet: Comedian reveals attempt to match QB up with Tate McRae

Theo Von continued his quest to land a date with the mom of Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia. Pavia reportedly promised the comedian that he would set him up on a date with his mom if the Commodores defeated South Carolina.
However, after Vanderbilt’s 31-7 win on Saturday, the QB clarified that there was another stipulation. Von first had to set him up on a date with pop music star Tate McRae.
Von did his best, showing a screenshot of a DM he sent to McRae on Instagram on Tuesday. He sent a photo of Pavia, acting as his wingman. However, Von also made sure to shoot a shot for himself.
“Hey Tate, my friend said I can take his mom on a date but only if he is able to take you on a date,” Von wrote before sending a photo of Pavia. “If you don’t want to go on a date with him, I can also take you on a date.”
Von, who hosts the podcast This Past Weekend with Theo Von and lives in Nashville, was in attendance at the Commodores’ practice on Wednesday alongside streamer IShowSpeed. He was also at Saturday’s Vanderbilt win on the sidelines, where the deal was originally revealed.
“You don’t even want to know what (Theo) told me about Diego Pavia‘s mom,” SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic said on the broadcast. “It’s not bad. It’s not like that at all. The way that I understand this story is that if Diego Pavia wins this game, he promised you he would set you up on a date with his mom?”
With SEC Network announcers Tom Hart and Jordan Rodgers snickering in the background, Von set the record straight.

“Yes, it’s true,” Von said. “My goal is I’d like to marry a nurse someday so that’s why. He was telling me about that. I like being his friend, so I don’t want to end up being like his stepdad or something. We’ll see what happens.”
Pavia finished 18-of-25 passing for 177 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in the win against the Gamecocks. He also rushed 11 times for 24 yards.
Based on the early performance from this season, it seems Pavia and Vanderbilt could be in for a big year. The team improved to 3-0 on the young season and moved to No. 20 in the AP poll this week.
Pavia has the Commodores looking like early contenders in the SEC, and it looks like he’s taking full advantage of the moment to shoot his shot with his celebrity crush. If it works, maybe he and Von can even make it a double date.
