Tim Tebow suggests Vanderbilt is being disrespected by AP Poll, predicts Top 10 ranking with Alabama win

For the 21st time in the history of the show, ESPN‘s College GameDay will travel to Tuscaloosa for an Alabama football home game. Usually, GameDay would travel to Alabama for a Crimson Tide clash against the likes of Georgia, LSU or Florida. But this year, GameDay rolls into town for a monstrous matchup against No. 16 Vanderbilt.
The Commodores have opened the season with a 5-0 record for the first time since 2008 thanks to wins over Charleston Southern, Virginia Tech, No. 11 South Carolina, Georgia State and Utah State. This weekend’s clash in Title Town marks a rematch from last season, where the ‘Dores knocked off then No. 1 ranked Alabama 40-35 in one of the biggest upsets in recent history.
Vanderbilt is on the verge of history, as its last 6-0 start came all the way back in 1928. To get to that mark, the ‘Dores will have to upset the Tide once again on Saturday. This time however, that game will take place in T-Town. College football great Tim Tebow suggested during Friday’s edition of ‘The Paul Finebaum Show‘ that Vanderbilt is being disrespected by its No. 16 ranking and could jump into the top-10 if it upsets Alabama once again.
Tim Tebow is high on Clark Lea’s Vanderbilt program
“If you change the logo and it’s not Vanderbilt and you put another SEC team on there, any chance that they’re ranked 16th? No,” Tebow said. “They are way higher than that. If they’re able to pull off the upset, which is a big if, you’re going to T-Town and playing Alabama which is by far at its best right now.”

“That’s a huge test. If they win this game, Vanderbilt is absolutely top-ten. If you look at how they’ve played and how they’ve dominated (given they haven’t played the best competition), it’s not just that they’re winning. It’s also how it looks. I think you’ve got to give so much credit and respect and honor to Clark Lea and what he’s done. He has totally transformed this program. I love what they are doing offensively. Their shifts, their motions, their ability to run downhill, triple option and play action off of it. Always have gameplan specific plays that they have. I just love it.”
Heading into the game, Vanderbilt‘s Diego Pavia and Alabama‘s Ty Simpson have emerged as two of the best quarterbacks in the SEC. Pavia boasts 1,211 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions through three games, while Simpson has tossed for 1,138 yards, 11 touchdowns and no interceptions. Pavia’s 88.4 QBR ranks third in the nation, while Simpson’s 84.2 ranks 12th.
Expect some fireworks in Tuscaloosa this weekend.
Kick-off between No. 10 Alabama and No. 16 Vanderbilt this weekend is scheduled for 3:30 PM ET. The game can be seen on ABC.
