Commodores, Bulldogs meet for third time this season in SEC Tournament
Vanderbilt and Georgia certainly aren’t strangers to playing one another, as the two programs will meet for the third time during the 2021-22 season on Wednesday night in the opening round of the SEC Tournament.
The Commodores come into Wednesday’s game having beat the Bulldogs twice in the regular season – earning wins of 73-66 on Jan. 15 and 85-77 on Jan. 29. While Vanderbilt closed the regular season with a win over Ole Miss, Georgia is riding an 11-game losing streak heading into the postseason.
Vanderbilt is led by standout guard Scotty Pippen Jr., who is averaging 20.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists on 43.8% shooting, while Georgia’s Kario Oquendo leads the team with 15.4 points per game on 45.7% shooting.
The Vanderbilt/Georgia winner will advance to the second round to face No. 6 Alabama on Thursday.
