Virginia Tech lands commitment from Mercer DL transfer Arias Nash

Virginia Tech has landed a commitment from a highly productive pass-rusher out of the transfer portal, snagging Mercer‘s Arias Nash.
Nash announced his commitment with a graphic on Twitter on Monday evening.
The talented 6-foot-1, 275-pound prospect racked up 53 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss, 9.0 sacks, a forced fumble, 14 quarterback hurries and two pass breakups during the 2024 season.
That was a breakout season for Arias Nash, following more meager contributions the two years prior.
As a freshman in 2022, Nash played in just seven games and logged a pair of tackles. He was more productive in 2023, playing in 12 games with two starts. He tallied 15 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup.
Arias Nash should be able to instantly bolster the pass rush at Virginia Tech.
Prior to enrolling at Mercer, Arias Nash was an unranked prospect in the On3 Recruiting Rankings.
Virginia Tech adds an offensive lineman
Arias Nash isn’t the only recent addition for the Hokies, who have utilized the transfer portal quite a bit in the winter window.

Interior offensive lineman Kyle Altuner has signed with Virginia Tech from the NCAA transfer portal.
Altuner just finished his lone season with West Virginia. He did not appear in a game with the Mountaineers as a true freshman this fall.
Altuner, a native of Olney, Maryland, played high school football at Good Counsel. He was the No. 403 overall recruit there as a three-star prospect in the 2024 cycle. He also rated as a Top-40 IOL and a Top-15 player out of his state. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. With that rating, he was the top signee from last year’s recruiting class for WVU.
