Wake Forest pitcher Haiden Leffew enters NCAA transfer portal

Wake Forest pitcher Haiden Leffew entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He spent two seasons with the Demon Deacons.
This past season, Leffew went 4-1 with a 4.46 ERA this spring. He had 34.1 innings pitched, gave up 35 hits, 22 runs (17 earned), issued 18 walks and had 59 strikeouts. His strikeouts per nine innings pitched was 15.5 this past season.
Leffew appeared in 18 games and made three starts as a freshman. He recorded 38 strikeouts in 35.1 innings of work and finished the season 3-0 while holding opposing hitters to a .221 batting average against.
Leffew started in his first collegiate game at UNCG (Feb. 20), recording a career high of eight strikeouts. He picked up his first career win against North Carolina A&T (Feb. 27) and also pitched 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen at Liberty (March 26) to pick up his second win of the season.

Leffew was key in relief when he threw 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball to earn the win against Coastal Carolina (April 9). He also struck out three batters across 2.1 scoreless innings against Clemson (May 11).

Prior to Wake Forest, Leffew was a participant in the 2023 MLB Draft Combine. He had a .082 ERA while setting the county record in strikeouts, with 128 strikeouts in 70 innings as a junior. Leffew also helped South Rowan capture first state title in any team sport in school history.
He had numerous All-State, All-County and All-Conference awards throughout high school. Coming in, he was the No. 2 LHP out of North Carolina according to Perfect Game.
