WATCH: Fan throws shoe onto field at players during West Virginia, Kansas game

A fan in the stands for West Virginia‘s matchup with Kansas threw an unusual item onto the field at the players, their shoe. With West Virginia setting up for a play near the goal line, a shoe came flying onto the field in the direction of the Kansas defender before bouncing harmlessly on the ground. The Kansas defender seemed confused at first, before finally pointing out the obstruction on the field.
Luckily, nobody was hit by the shoe — but it made for a viral moment of sorts as an unusual object to see thrown onto a football field from the stands. Outside of the fan’s bad behavior, the matchup between the Mountaineers and the Jayhawks was a thrilling one for all in attendance — going to overtime after regulation finished with a 42-42 tie.
Unfortunately, the Mountaineers night ended in tough fashion after allowing a touchdown to Kansas in overtime. While trying to respond with a touchdown of their own and extend the game, Kansas intercepted the ball and ran it back for the game-ending touchdown — as West Virginia fell 55-42 in overtime to their Big 12 rival.

“Something that’s impressive in this team that I think matters a lot is as soon as like you watch the final play of Pitt that’s the last you talk about them,” JT Daniels said.
“Nobody, I haven’t seen anybody, that’s you know in low spirits or thinking about last week. You put it to bed and you move on. There’s always a potential for a challenge to get guys focused on this week, but I haven’t.”
