The West Virginia baseball program has seen a resurgence over the past two seasons, as it has reached back-to-back Super Regionals for the first time ever. It however wasn’t able to get over the hump and reach Omaha for the first time in program history, but the Mountaineers have certainly proven that they are on the right track.
In his first year as head coach, Steve Sabins led his program to a 44-16 (19-9) record. This was good enough to win the Big 12 Regular Season Championship for the second time since joining the conference in 2013 (2023). The Mountaineers won all three games of the Clemson Regional against Kentucky (x2) and Clemson, advancing to the Baton Rouge Super Regional against eventual National Champion LSU.
