Aaliyah Guyton, the daughter of former Indiana Hoosier star and NBA player A.J. Guyton, was named the 2023 Journal Star Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The consensus all-state athlete averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals during her junior season. She was named Big 12 Conference player of the year for a second successive season as the Lions finished third in Class 3A, posting a 29-4 record.
