As a Recruit
Campbell was originally planning on playing defensive line in college, but his high school coaches encouraged him to make the switch to the offensive line to “improve his chances of playing in the NFL.” Campbell’s parents are Renaldo, a truck driver, and Candace, a loan advisor. Campbell says his uncle, who is also named Devon Campbell, is one of the most important people in his life. He is the defensive backs coach at Bowie and acts as the manager in his recruitment. “He’s the main one asking the hard questions to see if it’s going to be fit for me,” Campbell told Spectrum News. Campbell also throws the shot put and discus for Bowie, and he was on the varsity basketball team as a junior. Campbell wants to major in kinesiology in college. He lists music as his hobby outside of sports.
