The best Ole Miss story no one is talking about

Joenel Aguero

Mississippi

Joenel Aguero was ranked as an On3 Consensus four-star recruit when he signed with Georgia in the Class of 2023 out of Danvers (Massachusetts) St. John’s Prep. He picked UGA over Ohio State, Miami, Florida and a host of other national offers. As a senior, Aguero led St. Johns Prep to an 11-2 record and MIAA state championship. He was named the 2022 MaxPreps Massachusetts High School Football Player of the Year. Also in 2022, Aguero played on both sides of the football, tallying nearly 600 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. One of those touchdowns came in the state title game against Springfield Central. Prior to St. John’s, Aguero played for IMG Academy, helping Ascenders post a 9-1 record in the 2021 season.

Joenel Aguero is perhaps the biggest hitter in the 2023 cycle, dishing out some hits that remind us of Johnathan Abram. Aguero is more athletic than Abram at the same stage.

Not enough on film yet to project a level. Add more game film and verified measurables to unlock a full projection.

Undetermined

A developmental projection today — keep adding film, measurables, and reps, and your evaluation grows with your game.

D-III / Dev

Scholarship-caliber traits for Division II and NAIA programs, with room to climb through continued development.

D-II / NAIA

Starter-caliber traits for a Power 4 program (SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC). Squarely on major-conference radars.

Power 4

Blue-chip traits — a high-priority Power 4 target with the tools to contribute early at the highest level.

Blue Chip

The top of the scale — national-caliber talent that every major program pursues, with a clear NFL trajectory.

Elite / Top 100

Head-hunting, twitched-up safety who is arguably the biggest hitter in the 2023 cycle. Delivers crushing blows over the middle of the field. Explodes into ball carriers and receivers. A top athlete who tests very well in the combine setting. Ran a 4.48 electronically-timed 40-yard dash prior to his junior season. Was considered the top athlete on the loaded IMG Academy defense as a junior. At his best when he can use his athleticism and physicality to play fast and move forward as a cover down defender. More of a strong safety type at this stage. Not overly long with sub 31-inch arms and may not have much more room for growth on his 5-foot-11 frame. Will need to continue developing his man coverage skills. Flashed some two-way playmaking ability as a senior after transferring home to St. John's Prep, where he saw some time on offense.
