2022 NFL Draft
As a Recruit
Kaiir Elam has the athletic background to think football would come easy to him. His father, Abram Elam, played at Notre Dame and Kent State before embarking on a seven-year NFL career. His uncle, Matt Elam, was drafted in the first round out of Florida in 2013. But the sport didn’t come easy to him. “He was one of the worst players on the football team his freshman year,” his father told the Athletic. But then Elam started putting in the work to be the best he can be. By the time he graduated from high school, he was a top-100 recruit and Florid commit. He made five starts as a freshman in 2019 and then earned All-SEC freshman honors from the conference’s coaches. He was a full-time starter in 2020 and named All-SEC first team by the coaches.
