Personal Life
Reed Sheppard has been a well-known name for years, including appearing in a Sports Illustrated daily cover story during his sophomore year at North Laurel High School. He didn’t shy away from the early attention and combined with his play on the court, he became one of the nation’s top recruits. During his junior year, he averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 7.6 assists and was named the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year. “Reed is a special talent,” an opposing coach said. “He is, in fact, the straw that stirs the drink. When he is doubled or chased, he passes the ball and gets his teammates involved. When he is guarded 1-on-1, he can score in loads.”
