Talaysia Cooper was one of the top 20 basketball recruits in the country and a local priority for the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Class of 2022. The Turbeville, S.C., native was a two-time South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year winner. She was also the 2021 Gatorade South Carolina Player of the Year. Cooper averaged 23.7 points during her junior season, and she was a McDonald's All-American following her senior season. “Keeping Talaysia here in South Carolina was a priority,” South Carolina coach Dawn Staley said. “She’s in line with all the great South Carolina players that we have had the privilege of coaching. She is a big guard that plays both sides of the ball. Her versatility allows us to not only move her around but the other guards on the floor as well. Her upside is endless.”
