Personal Life
Ty Haywood grew up in Mississippi and played mainly on the defensive line. But after arriving in Denton, he transitioned to offensive tackle ā a move that forever changed the trajectory of his life. "When I moved here, I was playing defensive end and defensive tackle," Haywood told 247Sports. "Then the coaches wanted to see me at left tackle and basically one day they were like 'Hey, bring him over here'. And man, it sucked. Pass-pro sucked, everything sucked. We had a lot of talks about it, but over time, everything got better. So, now, look at me. I would say physicality is there. I have some speed, the athletic ability is there too... I also love that I get my teammates beside me. That fuels me. The one-on-ones, all that, I just move my feet, pancake people and make it happen."

Reminds Us Of
Ty Haywood's movement skills and outstanding functional play strength remind us of Tyler Smith. Haywood is a more polished and advanced prospect at the same stage, while Smith developed into a first round pick while at Tulsa.
