Angel Reese files trademark for her own name

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has filed a new trademark: her name. Reese trademarked “Angel Reese LLC,” according to a release from Heiner Legal PLLC on Wednesday.
The women’s basketball star rose to fame at LSU, helping lead the Tigers to a national title in 2023. She was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by Chicago and is already a two-time all-star.
A member of the 2024 WNBA All-Rookie Team, Reese has showcased her defensive and rebounding prowess. One of the most popular players in women’s basketball, she took it a steop further trademarking her own name.
Back in May, Reese surpassed Tina Charles as the fastest player to record 500 points and 500 rebounds for a career, taking only 38 games to do so. Unfortunately, she missed most of the second half of the season due to a back injury.
Reese made headlines throughout her college and pro career to this point. In addition to help elevating the game of women’s basketball, she’s known for her on-court rivalry with Caitlin Clark.
But recently, Reese aligned with other players as they rallied behind Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier regarding WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert. Collier unloaded in September during the Lynx’s exit interviews, making a lengthy statement in which she criticized Engelbert’s leadership.

Reese, like many in the WNBA, saw the news and decided to offer up her reaction on social media. She praised Collier for speaking out and had nothing else to add.
Among the many things that Collier brought up in her statement was a conversation she had with Engelbert in which she mentioned Angel Reese along with Clark and Paige Bueckers. Collier questioned how those three players in particular were making so little on their rookie contracts while at the same time driving “massive revenue” for the league.
Clark, who was the No. 1 overall pick in 2024, made a salary of $78,066 this year from her WNBA contract. Reese was the No. 7 pick that same year and made $74,909 this season.
At the same time, both players are still well paid through endorsement deals outside of the WNBA. Reese has had deals with brands such as McDonald’s and Reebok, with whom she just released her first signature shoe. She has an estimated net worth of $1.7 million according to Yahoo! Sports and almost all of it is coming outside of her WNBA salary.
