Caitlin Clark is a fierce competitor and that was on full display late in the fourth quarter Monday against the Connecticut Sun. The Indiana Fever rookie was issued a technical foul after using some NSFW language toward a referee.

The exchange occurred after Clark had the ball stolen and then committed a foul in transition. She appeared to believe that she was fouled on the play prior and did not hold back as camera caught her saying “Call a f*****g foul.” You can view the moment below.

The Fever led 76-75 with 3:37 remaining when Clark was called for the technical. Connecticut tied the game on the technical free throw and then took a 78-76 lead after Tyasha Harris drove in for a layup.

Things remained neck-and-neck down the wire and Aaliyah Boston even tied the game at 84 on an assist from Clark with 30 seconds remaining. Unfortunately, that would be the last basket Indiana scores as it went on to lose 88-84 and fall to 0-4 on the young season.

Caitlin Clark finished the contest with 17 points and five assists on 5-of-11 shooting, and the technical foul was a the first she has been issued in the WNBA.

Clark suffered a scare early in the game after she went down with an apparent ankle injury in the second quarter. She was taken back to the locker room after appearing to roll her left ankle on the play and sat the remainder of the first half before returning after halftime.

Clark did all she could down the stretch, scoring seven points and dishing out four of her five assists in the final quarter. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to overcome a dominant effort from Alyssa Thomas, who finished with 24 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists in the win for Connecticut.

The No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft, Clark has had a bit of an adjustment as she makes the transition from college to the pros. She entered Monday’s contest averaging 17.0 points, 5.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds on 40% shooting.

First WNBA game between Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese moved to ESPN

June 1, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will square off for the first time in the WNBA. Initially, the game between Clark’s Indiana Fever and Reese’s Chicago Sky would be on NBA TV, meaning ESPN missed out on the rematch between the former Iowa and LSU stars.

That is no longer the case.

The game is moving from NBA TV to ESPN, tipping off at noon ET. That means ESPN will get to show the first professional showdown between Clark and Reese after two high-profile matchups in the NCAA Tournament. Given the viewership surge the duo helped build at the college level, it could turn into a major win for ESPN.

The matchup is one of four between the Sky and Fever this season, but is currently the only one set to be broadcast on ESPN.
