Caitlin Clark goes after referees for no-call on Natasha Cloud to end game

Caitlin Clark was unable to get a shot off at the end of regulation as the Indiana Fever fell to the New York Liberty 90-88 inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. Clark, who was guarded tightly by Liberty guard Natasha Cloud, appeared to be upset after no foul was called on the play.
As the buzzer sounded, Clark threw her hands up and began to walk toward the official to state her case. Her pleas were ignored and the Fever drop to 2-2 on the young season. Watch the intense moment unfold below:
The CBS broadcast never provided a convincing angle that showed the play from the angle needed, so the broadcasters on the call weren’t able to provided any precise analysis. The official that Clark appeared to chew out at the end of regulation was in the perfect position to make the foul call if they saw it.
Instead of siding with Clark, nothing was called by the official and the game was over. The fans in the stands were audibly unhappy with the call, and the Fever have now lost two of their last three games.
Clark finished the matchup with 18 points, 10 assists and five rebounds. She finished 2 of 11 from the 3-point line in a game-high 38 minutes during the contest. Aliyah Boston was the leading scorer for the Fever, however, logging 27 points while hauling in 13 rebounds (six offensive) during the matchup.

On the winning side, the big three of Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu were responsible for 65 of the Liberty’s 90 points. Natasha Cloud didn’t just provide the game-winning defensive stop for her team, either. Her fingerprints were all over the court, totaling 16 points, five rebounds and four assists during the matchup. Through three games, Cloud is also the team’s leading scorer.
New York, which is coming off its first championship in franchise history, remains undefeated on the early season. They’ve now taken down A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces, and now Clark and the Indiana Fever on the early season. The Liberty will move ahead in their schedule for a two-game home stand against the Golden State Valkyries — the first-ever matchup between the two WNBA teams.
For Indiana, Clark and company will look to bounce back on Wednesday night during a road trip against the Washington Mystics live on NBA TV. They’ll be back home on Friday to play the Connecticut Sun.
