Caitlin Clark had to miss the WNBA All-Star game and the 3-Point contest after suffering a groin injury, and fans were severely disappointed. Now, the focus has changed to wondering when she’ll be able to return to the court to help the Indiana Fever.

Evidently, she’s going to need some time. The team released a statement on the matter, offering a grim outlook and stating there’s “no timetable available” for Clark to return to the lineup for the Fever.

“Following a July 15 injury to her right groin, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark underwent further medical evaluations earlier this week. The team can confirm that no additional injuries or damage were discovered through the evaluations,” the press release read. “Clark will continue working with the Fever medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation, with the priority on her long-term health and well-being.

“There is no timetable available for Clark’s return, and no additional details will be provided at this time. Any further updates will be shared as they become available.”

Alas, Clark suffered the groin injury during the final minute of the Fever’s 85-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun. After the injury, Clark banged her head against the stanchion and got emotional as she went to the bench.

Before this season, Clark never missed a game in her college or WNBA career but has already missed multiple games due to multiple injuries. So far this year, Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and five rebounds per contest. Hopefully, she can get back on the court sooner rather than later.

Caitlin Clark talks about having multiple injuries this season

“It’s honestly been hard, I’m not gonna lie to you,” Clark told reporters earlier this month. “It’s difficult going to prepare for games, but knowing you’re not going to be playing in them. It’s challenged me mentally.

“It’s really hard to stop and go, stop and go, stop and go, especially when you’re not feeling your best. Just trying to get my body as healthy as I can be and remain confident in myself.”

Not having Clark play in the All-Star game was a big blow since the game is being played in Indianapolis. She was named captain of Team Clark, which included her Fever teammate Aliyah Boston, A’ja Wilson, and Sabrina Ionescu.

Caitlin Clark was selected by the Fever at No. 1 overall in last year’s draft. In her rookie season, Clark was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team, the All-WNBA First Team and won the Rookie of the Year award.
