Troubling news has emerged on Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark after suffering an injury Tuesday night against the Connecticut Sun. Head coach Stephanie White provided an update following the game, saying it’s once again a ground issue for Clark. Not what anyone wanted to hear after recently getting the WNBA star back on the court.

“Caitlin Clark ‘felt a little something in her groin,’ Stephanie White said, and will be evaluated after the apparent injury,” ESPN’s Alexa Phillippou said via X.

Clark wound up playing 28 minutes, not having the best night of her career. She finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. However, Clark really struggled to shoot the ball. Only four of her 14 field goal attempts went down, including one of seven from deep. Five points came from the free throw line.

If any kind of time is missed, this would be the second time Clark has been sidelined due to the groin. She previously missed four games in late June and early July. Indiana was able to split those games with their star player on the bench, winning and losing two.

Unfortunately for the Fever, there is not much time before their next game. Tuesday was the front-end of a back-to-back, facing off against the New York Liberty on Wednesday. Nearly a week off will then take place before once again playing New York on July 22.

The WNBA All-Star Game is set to take place, giving everybody around the league a break. Maybe one Clark will need to full recover from her injury.

Caitlin Clark suffers injury in Tuesday’s game vs. Connecticut

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark broke down in tears in the final seconds of Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun after appearing to tweak a groin injury. She reached for her leg after an apparent non-contact issue.

Clark was bringing the ball up the court with about 40 seconds left to play when she kicked it inside to Kelsey Mitchell for a layup. As Connecticut called timeout, the former Iowa star was visibly in pain and reaching for her left leg as she headed toward the basket.

Once she got to the bench, Clark put a towel over her head and was visibly emotional off the bench. Replays showed she pulled up after the backdoor pass and reached for the inside of her right leg as the whistle blew.
