Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink plans to make her season debut on Tuesday against the Las Vegas Aces, she told John W. Davis of the Long Beach Press Telegram. Brink has been out since June of 2024 when she suffered a torn ACL during her rookie season.

She played 15 games in the 2024 season before suffering the injury, averaging 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds along with 2.3 blocks per game. She will likely start off with a minutes restriction of some sort, but is excited just to be back on the court.

“It means the world,” she said. “I’m just very excited. Very humbled by this experience. It’s no easy thing to come back from.”

Brink was the No. 2 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft out of Stanford. Her return comes as the Sparks are one a hot streak, having won five straight games. She will provide an even bigger boost as the team looks make a push to the playoffs.

Currently, the Sparks are one game out of eighth place for the final playoff spot. They’ve still got more than a month left in the regular season to climb the standings.

Brink will hope to immediately provide an impact on the defensive end, where she carried over the shot blocking prowess she displayed in college. But she knows that after having not played a game in over a year, there will surely be some rust to shake off.

“I fell like my defense has always been something I’ve leaned on, so probably I would say defense (will come first),” she said. “But just giving myself patience on offense knowing that it will come eventually. Both will need some work for sure.”

Cameron Brink returns to a frontcourt that already includes players such as Dearica Hamby, Azura Stevens and Rickea Jackson. Jackson is coming off of a 24-point outing on Saturday against the New York Liberty, including hitting the game-winning buzer beater. For now, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Brink come off the bench while she figures out exactly how much she can handle.

We’ll wait for further updates from coach Lynne Roberts on what kind of workload to expect out of Brink on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET at Crypto.com Arena and the contest will also be televised on NBATV.
