Fan ejected from Fever-Sun game after apparent comment toward Saniya Rivers

A fan was ejected from Tuesday’s Indiana Fever vs. Connecticut Sun game after apparently directing a comment toward Saniya Rivers. She went to the officials and pointed out the fan in the stands, resulting in their ejection from the game.
Rivers went to inbound the ball in the first half of Tuesday’s game at TD Garden in Boston out of a timeout. She then stepped away and had a long conversation with an official, according to the Indianapolis Star’s Chloe Peterson.
After the conversation, the fan – who was wearing a Fever shirt, according to the Indy Star – was ejected from the game. They were escorted out by security as play resumed.
The Sun selected Rivers with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft out of NC State. She started her college career at South Carolina, winning a national championship in 2022 before arriving in Raleigh ahead of the 2023-24 season. As a senior in 2024-25, she averaged 11.9 points to go with 6.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Wolfpack.
Tuesday’s game marks the third matchup between Indiana and Connecticut this season. The Sun won the first game 85-83 before the Fever responded with an 88-71 victory in the rematch. Tuesday’s game is at TD Garden in Boston in front of a sold-out crowd as Caitlin Clark and Co. came to town.

Clark is in the midst of a huge second season in the WNBA despite dealing with injuries throughout the year. She entered Tuesday’s game averaging 16.7 points to go with 9.0 assists and 4.8 rebounds. In addition, she’s also preparing for her first WNBA three-point contest when the game comes to Indiana this weekend.
Indiana is coming off a resounding victory over Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings in a game that resulted in huge TV numbers. The matchup drew 2.5 million viewers, making it the fourth-most watched game ever in a ratings victory for ESPN.
The last two No. 1 overall picks are also two of the faces of the sport and will both be in Indianapolis for All-Star Weekend. After the game, Clark shared what stood out about facing Bueckers amid her impressive rookie year.
“Paige just plays way older than she is,” Clark said. “She’s confident. She’s smooth. She does everything at a high-level and [her game] has translated really well — just like everyone knew it would.”
