Rebecca Lobo hammers WNBA officials for missed fouls on Caitlin Clark: 'All of those are fouls'

How Caitlin Clark is or isn’t officiated has become a storyline, as recently as this season, in the WNBA. That continued on Sunday in the Indiana Fever’s win over the Dallas Wings.
It came up during a replay of some plays with defense on Clark during the 102-83 win for Indiana over Dallas this afternoon on ABC. Rebecca Lobo and Ryan Ruocco went in on the videos noting several bits of contact that they thought should’ve been fouls called for Clark.
“There’s a grab, there’s a hold. There’s another grab. I mean, all of those are fouls. Every single one of them,” Lobo said of the first clip on a drive by Clark.
“And here. That’s a foul, that’s a foul and finally they call (it),” Lobo said of another drive from Clark which did result in a shooting foul.
In the 19-point win for the Fever, Clark finished with 14 points (33.3% FG, 28.6% 3PT), 13 assists, five steals, three rebounds, and a block. It was a great game for Clark, even with some shooting struggles continuing, as she posted what’s tied for the second-most assists of her pro career with the 13.

However, Clark took just four free throws, making all of them, in the victory. She’s shooting at an 80% clip at the charity stripe but has gotten there just 40 times in total over her dozen games this summer for an average of just 3.6 attempts per game. That’s nearly a free throw less per game than she took a year ago as a rookie and is sixteenth out of of the eighteen players around the league this season currently averaging 16-plus points per game. Part of that could be that she’s averaging the second-most three-point attempts of those players and in the league but it’s not all of it.
With that, the Fever have questioned the officiating in the WNBA and their whistle with Clark. Other around the league have criticized the officials as well, namely Angel Reese and Kelsey Plum.
There’s a lot to consider as to why Clark may not be getting the most favorable of whistles so far this year in the WNBA. It’ll be worth noting as the season continues into the second half, though, with the league having reached the halfway point going into next weekend at the All-Star Game.
