For the second time in a week, a WNBA game had to stop play after a sex toy was thrown on the court. On Friday, officials briefly paused the game between the Golden State Valkyries and Chicago Sky after a green sex toy — similar in appearance to the one thrown on a WNBA court on Tuesday — landed near the baseline.

Oddly, when a similar incident occurred unfolded on Tuesday, it was also during a Valkyries game. However, the game between the Valkyries and Sky on Friday was in Chicago. Thus, it’s difficult to imagine it was the same culprit.

The officials were noticeably quicker this time to remove the object off the court, kicking it beneath the goal before a stadium employee covered it with a towel and removed it from the area. The process wasn’t nearly as smooth on Tuesday. The broadcast zoomed in on the phallic object, catching the game’s commentators off guard.

“Oh my gosh, OK, inappropriate,” Morgan Ragan said. “Get ’em out of here, whoever it is.”

Police were reportedly dispatched within the stadium. However, it’s unclear if the person responsible for the unsightly moment was ever caught.

“I mean, first of all, it was super dangerous. And then when we found out what it was, I guess we just started laughing,” Valkyries forward Cecilia Zandalasini said with a smile after the game. “I’ve never seen anything like that. I’m just glad we worked through that situation. We stayed locked in, we stayed concentrated.”

The Valkyries certainly haven’t allowed the mania to stop them from securing wins. On Tuesday, Golden State squeaked out a narrow 77-75 win and the team followed up the performance with a 73-66 victory on Friday.

Veronica Burton and Janelle Salaun led the way for the Valkyries, combining for 34 points on 10-23 shooting from the floor. Burton also hauled in eight rebounds in the triumph over the Sky.

With the win, the Valkyries improved to 14-13 on the season and fourth in the Western Conference Standings. This is the Valkyries’ debut campaign. They are the first expansion team in the WNBA since the Atlanta Dream joined the league in 2008.

The expansion fee for the franchise was reported to be $50 million over 10 years. Now, the Valkyries are looking to give their fans something to cheer about in their inaugural season. Hopefully, fans won’t try to join in on the entertainment again anytime soon.
