Sophie Cunningham blasts Skip Bayless over Caitlin Clark clout-chaser accusation

Sophie Cunningham has clapped back at Skip Bayless after calling the Indiana Fever star a “textbook clout chaser,” in a video titled: ‘Skip FIRES BACK at Sophie Cunningham.’ His comments come in regard to her Indiana Fever teammate, Caitlin Clark.

“Dude, Skip, who’s the clout chaser? You’re literally using my name as your headline, so people can click on it,” Cunningham said on her podcast, Show Me Something. “And, like, my thing is, I don’t mind the guy. I don’t mind the guy. I have no beef with you. I’ve never met you, I’ve actually really never listened to you.”

Cunningham wasn’t finished. She also pointed out the irony in Bayless’ comments before moving on.

“He’s calling me a clout chaser, dude,” she said. “You’re the one who has my name plastered all over your YouTube that had 36 views, like get out of here.”

In his video, Bayless went on a rant about how Cunningham is benefiting from Caitlin Clark’s fame. He gave her pops for stepping up while Clark has been out nursing various injuries for the majority of the season.

Cunningham has been an avid supporter of her teammate throughout her career, and has had some choice words for those who many not believe in her as the face of the WNBA. Bayless agrees with Cunningham, and even said in his video that she’s the player who put the association on the map.

Still, Bayless sees Cunningham as having attached herself to Clark’s fame. Amid Clark’s absence, Bayless’ argument has grown louder.

“She quickly befriended Caitlin; that was smart,” Bayless said, via X. “And then she assumed the role of Caitlin’s on-court and in interviews defender and protector, or public defender.

“Did that ever quickly endear her to Caitlin’s billions of fans out there? Then, with the spotlight shining on Sophie 100 times better than ever before, she started making grand entrances into arenas, wearing spicy outfits, some of them provocative and very cool.”

In addition, Bayless called Cunningham the new “it-girl” and “a shrewd operator.” He also said: “She can really play the game within the game. The social media game, the get-famous game.”

His comments didn’t stop there, and more eyes and ears are on it at the time of this writing with over 10,000 views on Bayless’ YouTube show. Cunningham’s response have even more across all social media platforms as the beef continues between the WNBA star and former television personality.
