Women's basketball takeaways: 12/10 edition
It was a fun day of women’s hoops. Here are my takeaways and top performers.
1. Iowa State comes out on top vs. Iowa
We were treated to one of the best rivalries in the sport last night – and it delivered. The CyHawk game looked like it may be a blowout in the third quarter, when Iowa State led by 17 points.
But the Hawkeyes fought their way back into the game until the very end. The result, though, was as expected. The Cyclones earned their first ranked win of the year, 74-69, behind the star-studded duo of Audi Crooks and Addy Brown.
2. Kansas State drops a home game to San Diego State
I can’t form a true opinion on Kansas State yet, which is wild more than a month into the season with some notable games behind them.

The Wildcats, coming off a ranked neutral-court win over Ole Miss, then dropped a home game to San Diego State yesterday. The Aztecs won by double-digits.
In yesterday’s game, Kansas State shot 33% from the field, 33% from deep and just 58% from the free throw line. Taryn Sides has continued to impress me, but the newcomers haven’t quite come together yet.
