Women's basketball watchlist (11/7)

The women’s basketball season has arrived. It’s a fun day and there’s some good game action to keep you entertained during the first week of hoops. 

BE SEATED AT ALL COSTS

These are the games you’re going to want to skip work for – the ones that will tell us a whole lot about the best of the best.

8pm: Richmond at Texas (SECN+)

This is by far the best matchup of the day, as two ranked teams face off in (what should be) a fun matchup. Richmond, consistently one of the best mid-majors in the country, travels to Austin to face a Texas team that has a shot at winning it all this year.

THIS COULD BE COMPETITIVE/FUN

These matchups are more than just your run-of-the-mill easy blowouts. While some of them have the potential to be, these games are an opportunity to see good teams test themselves early. 

6pm: Cincinnati at Penn State (Big Ten+)

6pm: Columbia at Butler (ESPN+)

7pm: Kent State at West Virginia (ESPN+)

7:30pm: Missouri State at UT Arlington (ESPN+)

8pm: Rice at South Dakota State

9pm: Montana State at Portland (ESPN+)

A DECENT LOOK AND/OR AT OPTIMAL TIMES

These games will either be a solid look at a P5 team or they just fall at optimal times. If you’re in need of basketball to watch all day (like me), these are games to add to your list. 

11am: Charleston Southern at Charleston

11:30am: Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Arkansas

12pm: Georgia State at Mississippi State (SECN+)

12pm: Arkansas State at Tarleton State (ESPN+)

2pm: Idaho at UC Davis (ESPN+)

6:30pm: Purdue FW at Xavier (ESPN+)

7pm: Albany at Syracuse (ACC Extra)

8pm: Utah at Utah State

8pm: St. John’s at Harvard (ESPN+)

9:30pm: Fresno State at Cal State Bakersfield (ESPN+)

WATCH YOUR TEAM WIN A BLOWOUT

The rest of the games here will likely provide no true competitive value – but you never know. These games are your first look at some P5’s playing teams they should beat with ease. 

6:30pm: ETSU at Tennessee (SECN+)

7pm: Bowling Green at South Carolina (SECN+)

7pm: UIC at Indiana (Big Ten+)

8pm: Ole Miss at Alabama A&M

8pm: Manhattan at Minnesota (Big Ten+)
