Women's basketball watchlist: 12/3 edition

It’s a loaded day of hoops. Here’s my daily watchlist.

BE SEATED AT ALL COSTS

These are the games you’re going to want to skip work for – the ones that will tell us a whole lot about the best of the best.

5pm: Virginia at Vanderbilt (SECN)

Virginia entered the season with a ton of potential, but hasn’t lived up to it quite yet after falling to UMBC. Vanderbilt enters the matchup undefeated, but they’ve yet to face a top team. This is another solid test for Vandy and an opportunity for Virginia to earn a real resume road win.

5pm: Kentucky at Miami (ESPN2)

This is one of the games I’m most excited for. Kentucky is a team loaded with size and veteran talent. Miami has shown a lot of promise in their close losses to ranked teams so far. They’re bound to earn an upset at some point — and they’ll be at home for this one. Kentucky certainly has the edge, but this could be interesting.

7:15pm: NC State at Oklahoma (ESPN2)

NC State has had a disappointing start to the 2025-26 campaign and Oklahoma provides them with a chance for a real momentum-pushing win. The Sooners have looked solid so far and this is a game they’re certainly expected to win at home.

8pm: Montana State at North Dakota State (CBSSN)

This is such a fun mid-major matchup. Taylee Chirrick and Avery Koenen are two of the most underrated mid-major players in the country. They’ll be going head-to-head and I’ll be seated.

9:15pm: Tennessee at Stanford (ESPN2)

Both Tennessee and Stanford could really use this win. Tennessee has had a rocky start to their season and Stanford recently dropped a neutral-court matchup to FGCU. This could be a big momentum game and a good litmus test for both groups as we near conference play.

THIS COULD BE COMPETITIVE/FUN

These matchups are more than just your run-of-the-mill easy blowouts. While some of them have the potential to be, these games are an opportunity to see good teams test themselves early.

A DECENT LOOK AND/OR AT OPTIMAL TIMES

6:30pm: Sam Houston at Rice (ESPN+)

WATCH YOUR TEAM WIN A BLOWOUT
