Women's college basketball takeaways: Day two

Day two of women’s college basketball did not disappoint. If you couldn’t catch everything or just need a refresher, here are some takeaways.
1. Tennessee and NC State give high-level entertainment
Tennessee and NC State was high-level competition. It felt like an NCAA Tournament game in November. The neutral-court contest had plenty of lead changes, key performances and dramatics, but the Wolfpack came out on top 80-77 this time.
Vanderbilt transfer Khamil Pierre made the go-ahead shot for NC State, complementing a 21 point, 14 rebound performance. Zamareya Jones, Zoe Brooks and Tilda Trygger all played pivotal roles in the win as well.
Both of these teams look like they could compete with the best of ’em going forward. I’d watch this game every night if I could.
2. UConn looks legit, as expected
No one expected UConn to take a step back this year, even after graduating Paige Bueckers, but your doubts should be squashed if you had them.
