Amherst

Amherst High School, located in Amherst, Wisconsin, has established a strong athletic tradition despite its relatively small enrollment. Known as the Falcons, Amherst competes in the Central Wisconsin Conference and is a member of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA). The school has enjoyed success across a variety of sports, including football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, cross country, wrestling, and track and field. Amherst is particularly recognized for its football program, which has made numerous playoff appearances and captured WIAA state championships in 1985 and 2024. The Falcons have also produced successful teams and individual state qualifiers in baseball, softball, and track and field. A culture of hard work, community involvement, and multi-sport participation has helped sustain athletic success across generations. Supported by a passionate fan base and strong school pride, Amherst continues to be one of central Wisconsin’s most respected small-school athletic programs and a consistent contender for conference and postseason honors.
