Mathis High School, located in Mathis, Texas, is one of South Texas’ respected small-school athletic programs and has built a proud tradition of success across multiple sports. Known as the Pirates, the school competes in the University Interscholastic League and fields teams in football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, golf, tennis, track and field, cross country, powerlifting, and cheer. The Pirates are particularly recognized for football, baseball, and softball, with programs that have earned district championships, playoff appearances, and produced numerous collegiate athletes.
