2027 No. 1 WR Easton Royal has dominant regular season for Brother Martin (La.)

Brother Martin (La.) is gearing up for the first round of the LHSAA Division I Select Playoffs on Friday night, and while it may not be favored to capture the state title, it’ll always feel like it has a chance with Easton Royal on the field.
Royal, the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2027 cycle — according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies, has been a lethal weapon for the Crusaders all fall.
It’s no surprise that the five-star has been essentially unstoppable. Earlier this week, he showcased his impressive regular-season statistics. Royal hauled in 53 catches and turned them into 1,151 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Stating the obvious: there’s a lot to love when watching Royal dice up defensive backs. He continues to catch the attention of scouts, reaffirming his elite status. Per the Rivals300, Royal is the No. 5 prospect nationally in the junior cycle.
His recruitment has already soared and national powerhouses are firmly in the mix. Texas just had him on campus this month and the Longhorns made a serious impression. Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman has more on Royal’s trip to Austin here.

Brother Martin enters the playoffs with a 7-4 record. The Crusaders won their first five games of the season, then trudged through a four-game skid before picking up two big momentum-swinging wins, the latter of which was a 31-3 victory over No. 25 Holy Cross. Brother Martin is the No. 15 team in Louisiana, per the Massey Ratings.
On Friday night, the Crusaders take on Liberty Magnet and are favored to win big. The winner will take on Alexandria, the No. 5 team in the state, which has a bye into the second round.
Scout’s Take on Easton Royal
Rivals’ Scouting and Rankings team previously wrote this of Royal as a prospect:
“The most dynamic pass-catcher early in the 2027 cycle and a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Measured at around 5-foot-11, 185 pounds prior to his junior season. One of the fastest top prospects in the cycle, running a scintillating 10.3-second mark in the 100 meters as a sophomore. Brings that elite speed to the gridiron—lethal on vertical routes, easily pulling away from defensive backs downfield. Tough to tackle in the open field and will take it the distance if he finds space at the second level. Shows natural shiftiness as a route-runner, giving him the ability to separate at every level. Among the more productive top wide receivers in the 2027 cycle as a junior.
…Can continue improving his ability to attack catches with his arms extended, but has shown an expanded catch radius with several highlight-reel grabs. One of the youngest top prospects in the class with a late July birthday prior to his freshman season of college football. Athleticism, budding polish, and big-play ability make him one of the top overall playmakers in the cycle with the potential to develop into a first-round NFL Draft pick.”
